December 2015 :: Tiradej Bunyarattaphantu
:: When did you start at CrossFit Matters and how did you learn about CrossFit? – I started working out at CrossFit Matters in April 2015. I found out about CrossFit from my boss. I was working as an intern for my current company and my boss suggested that I come to workout with him once. I went to workout with him and I was instantly hooked on it. I had to stop working out for some time because I was still in school and there wasn’t a gym close to my school.
:: What is your CrossFit theme song? – I would have to say that my CrossFit theme song is Mad At Myself by Issues. I’ve never actually listened to it in the gym, but I have used it to pump myself up on my drive to the gym.
:: How and why does CrossFit matter in your life? – CrossFit matters in my life because it has given me an outlet to relax from the workday and accomplish something at the same time. I’ve always been active in my life but I always focused on mainly powerlifting in the gym. So CrossFit made me more of a well-rounded athlete. Besides the physical benefit I have gained new friends who I love working out with and push me to work harder in the gym. It has made me a more confident person in and out of the gym. It helped push me to compete for the first time and I’m so glad I made that decision.
:: What is your favorite movement/WOD and what challenges you? – My favorite movement is any form of squat. I can do squats for days. Snatches are challenging to me. I need to focus on the form.
:: What movement challenges you the most? – Gymnastic movements are so challenging to me. I have a lot of mass to move.
:: What is your guilty non-CrossFit pleasure? – I love playing board games. I try to get a new board game once a month.
:: What are you looking forward to achieving in 2016? – I am looking forward to PRing all my lifts and getting my name of the records board as many times as I can.
:: What is something you would encourage someone considering CrossFit? – Go once and never turn back. I know if you go one time you will be hooked to the great environment and the amazing sense of accomplishment that follows finishing a workout.
:: What is something others may not know about you? – I got a hernia the first summer I did CrossFit and I was able to do the 31 Heroes Hero WOD while I had the hernia.
:: What is your most memorable CrossFit experience? – My most memorable CrossFit experience is my first competition. It was so exhilarating and I felt accomplished when it was over. I went in with a plan and I performed better than the plan. The judges were so nice and helpful throughout the entire thing.
