GETTING STARTED

So you’re ready to start?  Great!  Welcome to the best decision you’ve ever made for your health and wellness!  Whether you’re a beginner, a seasoned athlete or making a comeback towards a life of good health and wellness, CrossFit is for you and the Elements of CrossFit program* is the perfect way to get started.  We have all new athletes complete the Elements of CrossFit classes before starting with group classes.  The two-week Elements of CrossFit classes cost $50 and once you have gone through all four classes, you will graduate into regular CrossFit classes.

Elements of CrossFit (see details below) we teach the Elements of CrossFit to ensure each person has safely gone through the mechanics of movement and has an overall understanding of CrossFit methodology while analyzing and evaluating each athlete’s range of motion, flexibility and overall capacity in functional movement.  Coached by a certified CROSSFIT MATTERS coach, and delivered in small group sessions, Elements of CrossFit is designed to get you to your first CrossFit class with the knowledge and awareness you need to be SAFE and successful.  We only ask one thing, that you give us 100% every time you walk in.  With commitment, accountability and hard work on your end, all of your goals will be accomplished.

  * We understand that some people have previous CrossFit experience.  If you are a seasoned CrossFitter, please contact us to schedule a 1-on-1 with one of our coaches for $50.  This is our way to assess you, your experience and will expedite you into regular classes.  Contact a coach today (below), to schedule an evaluation time.

Elements of CrossFit Schedule  ::  Every two weeks, we will host new Elements of CrossFit classes.  There are four classes that run for a total of two weeks on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 730pm.  Each class is a progression of the previous classes, so it is important that you adjust your schedules to make it.  If by chance you can not, as life does happen, please contact us and we will do our best to arrange another time.

June 2013 - Elements will begin on Tuesday, June 4th and June 18th at 6:30pm

What you will learn in Elements of CrossFit:

Session 1 (Tuesday at 6:30pm)

  • What is CrossFit?
  • What is Fitness and what does it mean to be ‘Fit”?
  • Athlete Safety/Development
  • Movements :: squats, presses and deadlift
  • Nutrition homework!  Yes, you will have some homework!
  • Baseline WOD (workout of the day – using the applied movement)

Session 2 (Thursday at 6:30pm)

  • Q/A from Session 1
  • Movements :: front squat, push press, sumo deadlift high pull
  • Baseline WOD

Session 3 (Tuesday at 6:30pm)

  • Q/A from previous sessions
  • Movements :: overhead squat, push jerk/split jerk, cleans
  • Baseline WOD

Session 4 (Thursday at 6:30pm)

  • Q/A from previous sessions
  • Check out your homework over the last week!
  • Movements :: pullups, rowing, kettlebell swings
  • Benchmark WOD
