MARCH 2014 :: ALLI HILL
:: My first day at CrossFit Matters (Elements) was May 1, 2012. I learned about it through my good friend Tyson Ditmore. He told me I should give it a try and that I would love it!! He’s pretty smart about some things!
:: Anything with a beat I can dance to between warm-up, stretching, skill work, and the WOD! Haha just ask my classmates.
:: What matters to me about CrossFit is the way it makes me feel – strong, healthy, accomplished, and happy!!
:: Favorite movement is SQUATS of course!! I’m amazed every time I stand up with that heavy weight!
:: For me the most challenging movement is snatches. There’s something about catching the weight over my head that scares me. I know it’s probably all mental but that is a hurdle I am trying to overcome.
:: My guilty non-CrossFit pleasure is great beer! Dark, frothy, and delicious! Just got my ticket to Boulevardia!
:: Since starting CrossFit some of my achievements have been completely quantifiable in the form of PRs in most of the major lifts. I think my biggest achievements have been mental – telling myself I CAN do something when my body thinks it can’t. You just have to keep trying until you get it. After that, it’s easy to continue. In 2014, I hope to continue getting better at everything! I definitely want to compete at Rx level in a competition this year to prove to myself that I can do it.
:: I tell people all the time to try CrossFit! I tell them it’s been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I tell them it’s hard and challenging both mentally and physically but it is SOOOO worth it! I also reiterate the fact that our community is the BEST!!! Any CrossFit box you enter should make you feel welcome and supported.
:: Something others may not know about me is that I have had a lot of animals in my lifetime from a red-tailed boa to a baby squirrel to a pony! Another thing is that I was a shy kid… I would cry if someone looked at me. lol Hard to believe, I know.
:: My most memorable CrossFit experience so far has been competing in my first competition. I learned a lot about myself and how to compete in an all-day event. It was a great experience!
